Hi! I'm Marbles, the newest member of The Outdoors Quest.
I am a one year old mixed breed herding dog, and I have decided that my job is going to be pretty simple: live life my way, find the adventure in everything, and show everyone else how to do the same.
My humans call it Life According 2 Marbles.
I call it dog sense.
You see, I had a pretty rough beginning. My first four months of life were spent mostly in an overcrowded shelter. A lot of people came looking for a dog, but they kept choosing someone else. I am not sure what they were looking for, but eventually the right people found me.
And that is when my real life began.
I discovered that there is a very big world outside of a shelter, and I intend to experience as much of it as possible.
There are trails to explore, parks to investigate, trees to sniff, new places to discover, people to meet and animals to introduce myself to. There are campsites waiting for me, roads waiting to be traveled and adventures waiting around every corner.
There are also kayaks.
I LOVE kayaks.
I have played in them. I have climbed around them. I have inspected them from every possible angle. I have determined that they are clearly designed for me.
There is just one small problem.
I have not actually been in one on the water yet.
I was told I have to learn to wear a lifevest before I am allowed on the water...
Apparently, there are still a few things I need to learn before I am allowed to take on that particular adventure.
I disagree with this assessment.
I am ready.
My big brother says water is fun, but not that much fun. However, this is the same dog who does not like baths, so I am not exactly taking his opinion seriously.
I plan to find out for myself.
And that is really what Life According 2 Marbles is all about.
- I am going to document the adventures I experience, the places I discover, the things I learn and all of the people and animals I meet along the way.
- I am going to show you what the world looks like from my perspective.
- Because from where I sit, the world is full of possibilities.
- A road is not just a road. It is somewhere you have not been yet.
- A trail is not just a trail. It is a path to something you have not discovered.
- A campsite is not just a campsite. It is a new place to explore, new smells to investigate and probably something interesting happening after everyone thinks I am asleep.
And a kayak?
Well, that is obviously a tiny boat adventure that is waiting for me.
I know there will be things I cannot do right away. There will be obstacles. There will be things I have to learn. There will be moments when something does not go according to plan.
That is okay. Roadblocks are not the end of an adventure.
They are just something you have to figure out.
I have already learned that sometimes life gives you a pretty rough beginning without asking your permission. But that does not mean the rest of your story has to stay that way.
My story is just getting started.
So come along with me.
- I am going to explore trails, discover new places, meet people and animals, learn new skills, experience the great outdoors and, eventually, get myself onto that water.
- I am going to make mistakes.
- I am going to get dirty.
- I am probably going to get wet.
- I am definitely going to find things my humans wish I had not found.
And I am going to have a whole lot of fun doing it. Most importantly, I want to teach everyone around me to look at life the way I do.
Full of adventure. Full of opportunity. Full of things worth discovering.
And when something gets in the way?
Find another path. Try again. Learn something new. Figure it out.
Because there is almost always another adventure waiting just on the other side of the roadblock.
That is Life According 2 Marbles.
And this is only the beginning. Come see the world my way. The Marbles way!
